advantages & benefits of playing club

The direct advantage of playing competitive club volleyball is the amount of additional time on the volleyball court and in competitive situations that high school and middle school coaches cannot create in their respective off-seasons. For example, most club teams have two to three practices per week for about 2 hours per practice. This translates into over 80+ hours of additional practice time in the gym dependent on team. In addition, teams can participate in approximately 12+ tournament days and seasonal tournaments, dependent on level, starting as early as January and generally ending around April/May. This translates into anywhere from 40 to as many as 50+ matches (depending on the level of the team, travel and success of the team). The average high school season is around 20-40 matches so numerically this is like playing a whole season in the offseason.

For all athletes who have aspirations in playing at the next level in college, then club volleyball is necessary. College coaches do the majority of their recruiting during club season and are at many of the national qualifier & showcase tournaments. At UC ELITE Volleyball Club we work hard with our athletes through the entire recruiting process. We make sure you are doing all the things you need to do. At UC ELITE we have contributed and helped numerous athletes reach the collegiate level.

Which team is right for you?

National Teams are designed for players that will compete at the highest possible level in our club. These players have aspirations of continuing through school and aspirations to continue their post club playing career at the collegiate level. National teams will compete in a minimum of 3-4 national qualifiers and plan to compete at USAV or AAU Nationals. Nationals teams will travel to at least 1-2 out of state national qualifier/showcase tournaments. Should a team earn a bid to USAV National Championships, the club will decide whether the team will participate at USAV or AAU Nationals. Post season cost will be determined/collected later in the season. National teams practice 3 times per week and will place team goals before all else. All teams are managed with performance-based playtime standard. Players are expected to support the team’s goals before any personal agendas.

Power Teams were created to provide athletes with an opportunity to train more without as much commitment to travel tournament. These players have goals to train as much as possible and play competitively all-year round through school and club. Power Teams will compete in a minimum of 2 national qualifiers. The main focus for these team is to have a competitive season versus earning a bid to Nationals. If a Power Team does earn a bid, the club will decide whether the team will attend AAU or USAV Nationals. Power Teams will practice 3x/week and participate in the most competitive/local tournaments (WCVBA Power League/NCVA Power League) outside of travel tournaments. All teams are managed with performance-based playtime standard. All athletes are expected to support the teams’ goals before any personal agendas.

Regional Teams are designed for players with aspirations of competing at a competitive club level. Regional team athletes are also dedicated and passionate, and interested in competing for their High School program. Some of these athletes are also potentially interested in continuing their post club playing career at the collegiate level. Regional teams will compete in the NCVA Power League, Local Tournaments and 1 national qualifier. Some of our teams will travel to at least one additional national qualifier/showcase tournament. Should a team earn a bid to USAV National Championships, the club will decide whether the team will participate at USAV or AAU Nationals. Post season cost will be determined/collected later in the season. Regional teams will practice 2 times per week and place team goals before all else. All teams are managed with performance-based playtime standard. Players are expected to support the team’s goals before any personal agendas. Regional teams begin their practice schedule the first week of December and finish the season in May. Post season will conclude in June/July.

Premier Teams are for players passionate about volleyball and want to continue to play through their Junior High and High School years, but without the time and financial commitment required from our National/Regional Travel Team Programs. Our Premier teams manage playtime in a competitive manner that also supports the development of each player. Premier Teams will compete in the NCVA Premier League and Local tournaments. The practice schedule begins the first week of January and concludes in May.
